Road Safety

Children across the school are given the opportunity to improve their Road Safety Skills and
include Bikeability. These are important aspects of our Healthy Schools and Citizenship
programmes.

PARENTS ARE REQUESTED TO PARK WELL AWAY FROM THE SCHOOL WHEN
BRINGING CHILDREN IN THE MORNING OR COLLECTING THEM IN THE
AFTERNOON. Please do not use the car parks on either side of the school.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE ZIG-ZAG LINES IN THE INTERESTS OF SAFETY.
WE ALL WANT OUR CHILDREN TO BE SAFE.

PLEASE USE THE CROSSINGS TO ASSIST YOU AND YOUR CHILD
AS YOU CROSS THE ROAD OUTSIDE SCHOOL.

PLEASE NOTE: Parking on zig-zag lines and causing an obstruction
is an offence under the Road Traffic Act and offenders may be prosecuted.

                                         Behaviour

“Pupils behave very well in lessons, and at breaktimes and lunchtime. The school is
calm and orderly throughout the day”

“Teachers expect all pupils to behave well and work hard.”
“They are unfailingly polite, courteous and well mannered.” (Ofsted 2017)
The school has an agreed policy on how we encourage the children to work and behave to the best of
their ability. We have a very positive approach to behaviour and encourage the children to succeed in
all that they do. To make this successful we have a number of Merit and Reward systems which
focus on good behaviour and achievement.
These do not always work and at these times we introduce an agreed system of sanctions and
corrective procedures designed to help the child focus on a positive attitude towards appropriate
behaviour. This is most effective when Parents are involved at an early stage so that we can work in
partnership in order to effect any necessary change.
The whole school values underpin the rules. These are:
    Show friendship to everyone.
    Show respect to everyone.
Strive for excellence in what you do.
Show determination to succeed in what you do.
Show courage to succeed in what you do.
    Show equality to everyone.
    Be an inspiration to others.
The school operates within the Zero Tolerance Policy of the Local Authority. As such violence,
physical aggression, threats and verbal abuse towards staff may result in legal action being taken.

                                                                                            Bleakhouse Primary School
