Prospective parents and their children are welcome to visit the school before
deciding whether or not to register. Please phone to arrange a mutually
convenient time.
SECONDARY TRANSFER
The Local Authority also operates an admission policy for secondary schools,
a copy of which is sent to parents in the October preceding the year of
transfer.
Parents may express a preference for a particular school but cannot be
guaranteed that their preference will be met.
After completing their primary education at the age of eleven, the majority
of our children transfer to either The Kingswinford School or The Summerhill
School. We enjoy liaison with both schools.
In the Autumn term of their child’s final year at Blanford Mere parents will
receive information from the Local Authority explaining the procedure for
transfer to secondary education. Parents at this time have the opportunity
to request a place for their child at any secondary school in the Borough if
desired.
RECEPTION INDUCTION PROVISION
Our successful Induction opportunity has run for several years. In the term
before they join us, reception children are invited to come into school for a
day. The date and times of this day are organised well in advance so that
parents can make appropriate arrangements.
At this session children have opportunities to familiarise themselves with the
Reception Class area, meet the children and staff that they will be working
with. A carefully structured programme offers experience of various skills
including language, mathematics, music and art activities. Participating in the
Induction opportunities offers each child a happy and exciting introduction to
school life and ensures a smooth transition from home to school. On the
Induction day, children are advised to stay to lunch as this gives them the
chance to experience eating their lunch in the busy dining room and playing
afterwards with their peers.
