We have high expectations of pupils’ appearance.
Jewellery
It is best if jewellery is not worn at all. However, watches and plain stud earrings are permitted, but
they MUST be removed for PE lessons. The responsibility for their care rests with the pupil. Other
jewellery; chains, necklaces, bracelets, and any hoop or drop earrings; are NOT permitted in
school at all.
Thank you for your support in this matter
Admissions Policy
Brook School has a published admissions number of 60 places per year group. This means that
up to 60 children can join Reception in September. At present the school is organised into seven
year groups, with two parallel classes in each. Each of the seven year groups follow our school
curriculum which encourages continuity and progression and which encompasses the recently
revised National Curriculum. Class organisation may differ from year to year.
In Dudley children start primary school the September after their 4th birthday. The law states all
children must start school by the beginning of the term after their 5th birthday.
You will be expected to apply for your child’s Reception school place at the start of the academic
year prior to their year of entry, e.g. Parents of children starting school in September 2025 will
be invited to register their child from September 2024.
All applications are processed by Dudley MBC and the decision is made by the Admissions
Service regarding places. Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Staffordshire, Walsall, Wolverhampton
and Worcestershire (LAs) have agreed to co-ordinate applications for their schools. You are
encouraged to apply online. The Admissions Service informs parents by email/letter of the school
to which their child has been allocated a place.
