Characteristics of effective learning (COEL)

             The curriculum also develops the three key characteristics of effective learning:

         Playing and Exploring- children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’

 Active Learning- children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties and enjoy
                                                        achievements.

Creating and thinking critically - children have and develop their own ideas, make links between
                                   ideas, and develop strategies for doing things.

 At the end of the foundation stage, an EYFS profile will be completed for each child commenting
on whether they have met the ELGs. This will be shared with their parents/carers. At Charlton-on-
Otmoor C.E Primary School, we also complete an annual report, in the summer, for all the children

                      in the unit who have been with us for more than one whole term.

       At the end of their Reception year the children will be assessed in these areas to
                         identify if they have met their Early Learning Goals:
