SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Children start in our Foundation Stage where learning is based upon the national Foundation
Stage Curriculum which is designed to combine social and play learning with more focussed,
teacher-lead learning. Each child’s progress is observed and measured against the Early
Learning Goals and recorded on the Foundation Stage Profile.
By Year One the curriculum moves from a Foundation Stage curriculum to the National
Curriculum. English and Mathematics lessons are taught daily along with reading activities
(group reading or individual reading), phonics and handwriting sessions. These sessions are
taught mainly in the mornings when children are freshest and most ready to learn.
Science, Physical Education, Religious Education and French, are taught each week as individual
subjects. Our Religious Education Programme follows the Dudley Agreed Syllabus.
Computing, Geography, History, Art, Design and Technology and Music are taught together as
a creative curriculum in order to make learning creative and fun.
