Thinking about your child’’s Reception Place
This information will help you to understand how to get a place for your child in the reception
class for 4 year old’s in the September following their 4th birthday.
October
During October you will receive a letter from the Local Authority asking you to choose a
school for your child to attend in the September following their 4th birthday. You should go
online to apply for your child’s reception place and staff will be available to advise you nearer
to the time.
December — 4 year old children
You should choose your child’s school online by the beginning of December following your
child’s 4th birthday
March - School Place Offer
You will be sent a letter fromAdmissions andAppeals letting you know which reception school
place you are being offered.
April – Accepting your Reception Class Place
You must inform your child’s the school saying if you are accepting the place.
If you are not accepting the place you need to let the school know and contact Admissions
and Appeals to find out what to do next.
