            SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Our children have a range of needs, we aim to support each child no matter what their abilities
but we also provide additional help for those who need it. In addition to extra support in class
we provide small group catch-up learning and individual programmes where necessary.

Provision is made for those children with additional needs by means of modified work, special
needs programmes designed by the class teacher, with the support of the Special Needs Co-
ordinator, and where necessary Dudley Authority’s Learning Support Service. Gifted children
are similarly encouraged by individual work programmes to make the most of their abilities.

On occasions there may be a need for individual children to be assessed by the outside agencies
such as (LSS) Learning Support Service or SALT (Speech and Language Therapy Team) so that
the school can gain the expert advice needed to provide the most suitable programmes of work.
If this becomes necessary, then we always seek the permission of parents. Parents are invited
to discuss the findings of these meetings to ensure they are fully involved in the process.

            DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT 1995

The school undertakes not to discriminate against children with disabilities. Children with
disabilities are welcome in the school and every effort will be made to ensure access to a full
            curriculum.

The school building is wheelchair-friendly and there is a disabled toilet and care room.

The school’s general admission criteria apply equally to children with disabilities.

            EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

The school is committed to equal opportunities and promoting anti-racism.

All racist incidents are monitored and reported to the school’s Governors and Dudley MBC.
